The Hijjawi College for Engineering Technology at Yarmouk University, Irbid, Jordan, was established in 1984 through a grant of US$3 million from the Scientific Foundation of Hisham Adeeb Hijjawi.

The wish of the founder, late Hisham Hijjawi, was to create a form of education in Jordan linked with the industry requirements. The College focuses on graduating skilled and proficient engineers, equipped with a good level of theoretical knowledge accompanied by high level of engineering practical skills, achieved by teaching basic and specialized courses, practical laboratory courses, graduation projects and industrial field training.

The College graduate engineers, after completing 167 credit hours, with a B.Sc. degree in Engineering Technology in four different engineering specialization’s through its:

Department of Electronic Engineering
Department of Computer & Control Engineering
Department of Communication Engineering
Department of Electrical Power Engineering

As a result of the College donation by the Scientific Foundation of Hisham Adeeb Hijjawi, it is totally owned by the Yarmouk University, a major government university serving the northern part of Jordan, that belongs to the Jordanian Ministry of Higher Education.

The Scientific Foundation of Hisham Adeeb Hijjawi enjoys no returns whatsoever whether direct or indirect from the college as a result of its donation, instead the foundation supports the college on continuous basis by providing, free of charge, computer and lab equipment to support the college labs and workshops, it covers yearly students training expenses abroad in addition to involvement in promoting the graduates and finding suitable job opportunities for them.

The College follows the University system which operates on calendar of two acadmic semesters of 16 weeks each in addition to an optional summer semester. The current student enrollment amounts to 850 students.
